Sui Jianguo’s House
The sculptor Sui Jianguo is one of China’s leading contemporary artists. Among his many renowned works the Mao Jacket and the Red Dinosaur are most prominent. Shishang designed his private museum, his studio and his family’s private living space at the outskirts of Beijing. Sui found a suitable abandoned factory building which was converted into living, working and exhibition space. The original building materials were kept and enhanced with minimal additions such as lights, skylights and“white canvas walls”, that allow the art to be seamlessly integrated into the space.
